Why do people go fishing for fun?
Not bashing anyone’s opinion, by the way.
Okay, so I know that fishing was developed for food a long time ago. But today, food can be found in stores all over the place (not in some places, but you get my point). Why do people still like fishing for fun today?
I mean, all you do is cast your line, and wait maybe ten boring, long minutes until a fish bites and then you overreact about it? That doesn’t make much sense. Plus, I hate it because you get bug-bites, which are so annoying! (I love the outdoors, but hate fishing and bug bites. Go figure.)
A lot of you are being sexist, just STFU women can do anything a man can do AND BETTER.

because its better than sitting at home on your computer asking dumb ass questions
I personally don’t like fishing much either but I can imagine that it has something to do with the satisfaction of eating something that you caught yourself. The same reason that people grow and eat food in a garden. It’s difficult to describe it scientifically.
Alot of people use it for enjoyment or relaxing. Also fish fresh out the water is alot better than in the store in a can!
your a girl….
Because it is relaxing, and if you bring your family you can talk and have quality time. Plus fresh caught cooked fish always is better than frozen fish sticks.
I enjoy fishing very much and its something I can do with my family. I grew up fishing with my grandpa. And after I met my husband he was really shocked I could fish and liked too. The fun part is you never know exactly what you are going to catch about the bug bits though if you like the outdoors you know bugs are everywhere just buy bug spray.
True dat o!
it’s not just sitting around. It’s being alone in nature, and hanging out with friends.
beer , sports , & blond jokes , who has the biggest rod
it’s a guy thing “sweety”
this is a conversation I had with my dad when I was a kid. (I was trying to get him talking about the problems at home)
“William, it’s not complicated to just hold on to a fishing rod for a few minutes. Just be sure you forget where you are.”
“that makes no sense…”
“Dam will, do I have to spell it out for you. I’m not here for the fish”
Well its really about the satisfaction of knowing you don’t have to rely on going to the store and buying your own food. I don’t eat the fish i catch, i prefer catching and releasing back into the wild to preserve our wonderful sport and the nature of the fish. Its man verse nature and the only one that could understand the feeling of catching a nice fish is one thats gone and done it themselves. Its not something everyone can do consistantly well. It takes patience and alot of practice. You should go to the store, buy some bug spray, and go to the closest lake and throw a top water lure onto the surface. Wait till a nice bucket-mouth swallows it and runs, and tell me you don’t get a feeling you’ve never felt. Just for that second, you will feel empowered with a wonderful thrill. And always practice catch and release. Unless of course you are hungry for the freshest fish you could put into your mouth.
I bet you cant pee better/more accurate than me while standing….
Who says you just let your line sit there for 10 minutes? Thats called dead sticking or bait and wait. I prefer to use lures, meaning I cast it out and retrieve. Look at fishing as a challenge, first you need to find the fish then you need to trick the bigger more experienced fish to biting your lure or bait. Its a sport, I dont eat or keep every fish I catch
Fishing is fun. Especially with friends. You can listen to nature. Observe nature. Keep your mind off of bad things. When you catch a fish it is totally worth it.
