PVC pipe if you have it or you could use a Y stick that looks just like a Y and you put your pole in between it. you can find a stick in the woods and just put it in the ground.

Use a piece of re bar about 2-3ft long. 5/8 re bar works the best. Use a cutting torch to heat and bend a circle into the top of the re bar, that’s for setting your pole in. The re bar can be hammered into some pretty hard banks when fishing. Make it even nicer by attaching a piece of PVC to the re bar using hose clamps. I keep a couple in my truck all the time and they last along time.
Use a piece of PVC pipe. Cut one end at an angle to stick in the ground. drill a hole and place a bolt through it to keep the bottom of the rod off the ground.
Get some 2-3″ Sch 40 PVC pipe and cut it to the length you want.
You can slot the PVC pipe to accommodate a spinning reel, or a bait caster. Just keep in mind if you want the reel to set down in the holder you are going to have to get bigger pipe.
Get a peace of metal and grind one end down to make a point.
Bolt the PVC to the metal and bingo a rod holder you can put in any kind of ground. If you fish soft soil make the metal a little longer. Best kind of metal would be something that is in a U shape, but a peace of flat stock would work just as well.

After you price the material required to make one you would probably be better off and ahead of the game buying one, but
buying one you will not have the satisfaction of using something that you made. !!!
